Who we are

Pressfolk is an independent publishing platform operated by Steve Longoria, a sole proprietor in Oregon. Contact Pressfolk through the support form, including if you cannot sign in. The first release features The Long Why. Additional publisher signup is not open yet.

Reading and accounts

Articles, publication following and RSS feeds are free. A verified free account is required to read or post comments. You must be 18 or older to create or use an account, pay for support or earn money through Pressfolk. Public articles remain readable without an account. Choose a public username; a real name is not required. An Individual or Brand label describes the profile type and does not verify identity or confer extra permissions. Keep access to your sign-in email secure.

Do not impersonate another person or brand, threaten or harass people, post unlawful material, manipulate votes or supporter rankings, or abuse sign-in and referral systems. Publication owners may moderate discussions in their publications. Use the support form to report content or account problems.

Voluntary recurring support

Paid support helps fund a publication. It does not unlock exclusive articles. The Long Why's support options are $5 per month or $50 per year, plus any applicable tax shown at checkout. Each option renews automatically at its stated interval until canceled. Checkout shows the selected amount, billing interval and total before you authorize payment. Each publication is a separate subscription; following a publication is not consent to pay or receive a newsletter. Paid support is currently available only with a United States billing address. Free articles and RSS remain available worldwide. Paid support is not a charitable donation and is not tax-deductible.

Cancel renewal in Your account → Manage support & earnings → Cancel renewal. The cancellation stops future renewals; charges already collected follow the cancellation and refund policy. Reading stays free after cancellation. If you cannot sign in to cancel, use the support form. We will explain any price or terms change before the affected renewal and handle it consistently with the consent you gave and applicable law.

Sharing and distributor credit

A verified account can create a distributor link. The first eligible distributor link retained for a new account's verification attempt supplies its signup credit. That credit becomes fixed when the reader verifies their first account, including when they open that sign-in link on another device. Later logins or distributor links do not replace existing credit. A direct signup does not acquire distributor credit later.

Eligible paid support from the attributed account can earn recurring commission. The publication's rate is at least 20% of collected subscription revenue excluding tax and refunds. Each support contract keeps its original commission terms. Pressfolk's platform fee is 7% on the same basis. Payment-processing and subscription billing fees come from the publisher's remaining share. Pressfolk covers fraud-screening fees from its platform share; those fees do not reduce publisher or distributor earnings. Self-referrals and a distributor's own publication do not earn a separate distributor commission. No payment or earnings are guaranteed merely because a link is visited, an account is created or an article is liked.

Use the provided print version when distributing an article. Preserve the author and publication credit, article text, return link, QR code and commission disclosure. Do not claim that an independent distributor speaks for the publication or Pressfolk. Distribution does not grant rights to republish third-party images or other material beyond the rights held by the publication. Every participating publisher authorizes distribution when joining Pressfolk.

Keep a clear disclosure beside every referral link or QR code, for example: “I may earn a commission if you join through my link and later support a publication.” The generated print copy includes a disclosure. Do not hide or remove it, or rely solely on a general profile notice. Distribute materials only where permitted, without spam, deceptive claims or false promises of income.

Earnings and payouts

Publisher and distributor earnings are combined into one payment per person, which Pressfolk aims to start on the 15th of each month. Earnings become eligible at least 30 full days after the payment is collected and once the funds are available from our payment provider. The minimum payment is $25. You must complete identity and bank verification with our payment provider before you can be paid. The 15th is when we aim to start a payment, not a guaranteed date for it to reach your bank. Pressfolk absorbs standard payout account and bank transfer costs; they do not reduce your commission.

The $25 minimum is waived for the annual December 15 payment of any positive eligible balance and for a reviewed account-closure request, which is paid in the next eligible monthly batch. To close an account, send a request through the support form while signed in so we can verify ownership and review remaining earnings and subscriptions. A balance is not forfeited because it is below $25. If an annual or closing payment cannot be made because a required check is unresolved, the eligible balance remains owed once the issue is resolved.

Pressfolk reviews each payment before sending it. A payment may be delayed while verification, available funds, a refund or a dispute is resolved. If we cannot pay an eligible balance because payout setup is incomplete, we will contact you using your account email. If a balance still cannot be paid, it remains owed to you, and we will handle it as unclaimed property where the law requires. If a payment provider or the law requires an earlier payment, we will make it earlier.

Refunds and disputes reverse the original earnings allocations. A reversal after a payment has been sent is offset against future earnings; it does not authorize a debit from your bank account. Pressfolk covers dispute and chargeback fees; they are not an extra deduction from publisher or distributor earnings. Earnings estimates and previews are not withdrawable balances, reservations or proof of a bank payment.

Updates and support

The policies in effect when you subscribe form part of that subscription's terms. Each version of these policies remains available at its archive address. We will give notice before material changes take effect. Use the support form for questions and for account, billing or content requests. Nothing in these policies removes rights that applicable law gives you as a consumer.
